Mimbres Region Arts Council

Rebecca Jacobs works as the marketing director for the Mimbres Region Arts Council. She is responsible for building the council’s brand by promoting programs and services and implementing marketing campaigns. She assists in the effort to make quality arts and cultural activities accessible her community.

Raised in a rural, southeastern Wisconsin, Jacob was immersed in cultural and activities by her artist mother. She spent two years at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and then hopped on a motorcycle to travel North America. She was captivated with New Mexico and decided to move here. She received a bachelor’s degree in English and Geology from Eastern New Mexico University (1997) and a Master’s degree in Native American Studies from Western New Mexico University (2002).

She has been a writer and editor for numerous print and online publications around the world — magazines, newspapers, journals — as well as a grant writer for nonprofit and government organizations.

In her work, Jacob has increased community participation in local arts and educational events. 

 

 Motavenda “Moti” Melchizedek,  works as the media & marketing assistant for the Mimbres Region Arts Council.

Moti Melchizedek is an artist, writer and educator living in Silver City, New Mexico. She recently graduated from Western New Mexico University with a Masters degree in secondary education/art.

Melchizedek has been an artist all her life, she has worked in glasswork over the past decade and owns a small glass business, Innerworld Designs, that specializes in original handmade artisan lamp work beads created for jewelry designers. She also creates original art and prints through Innerworld Designs.

Melchizedek is a writer and publisher and owner of Tattletale Publications. She recently published The Edge of the World…the metaphysics of survival and the evolution of humanity and The Silenced Child.

Melchizedek finds inspiration in the act of creating itself. She brings her wealth of art, design, web and administrative experience to the Mimbres Region Arts Council hoping to empower creativity in the community.

 

The Mimbres Region Arts Council provides quality programs that foster an appreciation and understanding of the arts, serves as a resource for artists and cultural entrepreneurs, and positively impacts the area's economy by creating events and experiences that enhance the region's appeal as a premier destination.
