Clovis Community College

Mark Schmidt serves as the technical director for the Clovis Community College (CCC) Cultural Arts Series. Schmidt anticipates the technical needs for performances presented in multiple venues. He coordinates the lease and rental of equipment; coordinates the set-up of lights and sound; and manages other technical aspects of performances. He also serves as the technical director for student productions and has taught technical theater classes. Also a theater student at CCC, his day job is that of the parts manager/purchasing agent for a local car parts store where he has worked since 1986.

Originally from Twin Falls, Idaho, Schmidt is an experienced technical director, scenic designer, lighting designer, props designer and actor—sometimes all at once! He has been recognized for his work as both set designer and actor for the CCC production of Holy Ghosts, a production in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). He has designed, served as technical director, and/or performed in numerous other productions.

The mission of the Cultural Arts Series is to provide diverse cultural programming of the highest quality by presenting international, regional, and locally produced works to underserved audiences in eastern New Mexico communities.
