The Classics For Kids Foundation
offers matching grants toward the purchase of high quality stringed instruments and mentoring to nonprofit music programs serving young people grades 3-12. CFKF works only with instrument providers that assure the highest craftsmanship, sound, and ease of playing, so that young players gain the fullest benefit with their instrument. The mentoring program serves to further the connection between children and their instruments. Tax-exempt nonprofit organizations such as community youth orchestras, school orchestral programs, or symphony societies are welcome to apply. Organizations or studios offering stringed instrument training without nonprofit status can partner with a tax-exempt nonprofit organization -- such as Rotary, Kiwanis, or local symphony society -- to apply for the grant, help raise matching funds, and monitor the use and condition of the instruments once granted.

Surdna Foundation Fellowships to High School Arts Teachers
The Surdna Foundation offers the Surdna Arts Teachers Fellowship Program, a national initiative to support the artistic revitalization of outstanding arts teachers in specialized, public arts high schools.

Surdna's goal is to help arts teachers in public arts high schools increase their effectiveness as they guide and train young people for careers or advanced study in the visual, performing, and literary arts. The Foundation believes that if teachers can immerse themselves in their own creative work and interact with professional artists/colleagues, they will bring new ideas and practices into the classroom.

The Surdna Arts Teachers Fellowship Program will enable selected teachers to create art with professionals in their fields, stay current with new practices and resources, and create new bodies of work. Twenty awards of up to $5,000 each will be made. A complementary grant of $1,500 will be awarded to the Fellow’s school to support post-fellowship activities. For more information and application materials, please go to www.surdna.org/programs/artsteachersfellowships.html
