Ann Weisman oversees division operations, including budgets, contracts, fiscal, and human resources. She is the staff contact for the community-based Arts Trails projects and is a member of the Arts & Cultural Districts Steering Committee. Ann also provides organizations with technical assistance, especially in the areas of advocacy, cultural planning, and board governance. Prior to assuming this position, Ann was New Mexico Arts’ Service and Education Coordinator for seven years.
Ann came to New Mexico Arts in 2001 after serving as the executive director of the Assembly of Community Arts Councils of Oklahoma. Prior to that, she was the administrator of the City of Lawton (Oklahoma) Arts & Humanities Division for eleven years. Ann holds an M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Montana. A performance poet, Ann has been an artist-in-residence for three state arts councils. She has published three books of poetry; the most recent was a finalist for an Oklahoma Book Award in Poetry. She released her first CD, collaborations with musicians, in 2005. Ann has also exhibited her photography, handmade paper, and installations in numerous venues.
